Yes, Yes, YES, I know its “Christmas” and I hope you’re having a merry one. But just before I go and eat, get drunk and open my presents, I thought I'd finally do my first post....
I am 'Mr A.Kay', a London born Nigerian....and this is my blog.
Born and raised in the east end of
Music has always been a big part of my life and my love of it has seen me becoming an artist in my own right. The music I make; like with the music I listen to, transcends through an array of genres. I guess I simply enjoy creating music that expresses my thoughts, emotions and feelings. The past few years have seen me working to develop my craft; taking me from ‘spitting bars’ in my bedroom to launching my own EP.
Over the years, music has exposed me to an array of influences in the shape of fashion, current affairs, popular culture, art...things that I may have not have been naturally exposed to, growing up on an east end council estate.
But it is with this past year that I have welcomed and truly embraced these new cultures and experiences. At the start of 2010, I took a trip to Brick Lane where I stumbled across vintage menswear stall, Ease the Squeeze, that has since become a favourite of mine. The owners were a cool bunch of guys and the vintage stock was amazing. As strange as it may sound, it was this trip that triggered a new outlook on my own future. I won't bore you with the sentimental story, but let's just say it some how affirmed to me that the world is yours for the taking...
The journey since then has been memorable, and one thing I’ve learned is that in life, many of our differences and idiosyncrasies’ are our strengths.
And so, it was with this thought that I founded this blog (yes, another one I'm afraid)....Young, broke....but creative.
I've never been much of a writer (bar my lyrics) but I hope this blog will become an online abode for my travels, music, thoughts, inspirations....you know the drill.
So, as I draw this first post to a close, I thank you for visiting and reading this far and hope you shall stay along for the ride....
